Census View

MDP's Census View 2000 GIS Mapping product for ArcView 3.2, enables users to identify and select 2000 Census geographic layers of interest in Maryland and to generate maps and profiles for selected areas. The 5 page reports contain 2000 Census Population, Household and Housing Characteristics from SF1 (short form), and 2000 Social, Economic, and detailed Housing Characteristics from SF3 (long form). Some of the data included in these profiles are: population by race, age, sex, educational attainment, housing units, income, poverty, employment, commutation, and housing costs. Among the geographic areas that can be mapped and profiled are counties, places - incorporated and census designated, census tracts, block groups, blocks, minor civil divisions, voting districts, zip codes - whole and county parts, urban areas and the new 2002 Congressional and Legislative Districts.

Unique Features:

  • Census View 2000 can be used to create profiles for distinct User Defined Areas. A user can define a study area (e.g. neighborhood, marketing area, or service area) and generate the profile report for the area.
  • This product can be used in conjunction with MdProperty View in order to access additional reference layers (State Highway Administration street maps, parcel addresses, and property maps).
  • Address locating software allows users to identify a location and select the 2000 Census geographic layers and area to be profiled.
  • Includes the ability to geocode customer and client address databases.
