Following each decennial Census of the United States, Maryland, like all states, must draw new congressional districts (U.S. Constitution Article I, Section 2) and state legislative districts (Maryland Constitution Article III, Section 5) based on the principal of one-person one-vote.
The Governor's Redistricting Advisory Committee (GRAC) has conducted a series of public meetings, as required by the Constitution of Maryland (Article III Section 5), designed to provide Marylanders with an opportunity to provide input into the redistricting process for Maryland's eight (8) congressional districts and forty-seven (47) state legislative districts.
